Located at the mouth of the River Aln, the village of Alnmouth has been an important trading port in Northumberland's past, mainly involved in the export of grain, and smuggling.

Today Alnmouth remains a beautiful and interesting village and is well worth exploring. There are a variety of restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and gift shops for the discerning visitor to enjoy.

Visitors are welcome to visit The Friary of Saint Francis and are allowed to walk around the grounds close to the sea (Alnmouth is the most northerly Friar community in England). The house offers a place of pastoral care in the northeast, welcomes guests and has a constant stream of visitors.

For the romantic at heart, an evening stroll along the aptly named 'Lover's Lane' at sunset is the perfect way to end your day.
